BLOOD GOLD

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE ARE BURNING IN THE AMAZON TOO (1/3)
“Blood Gold” was inspired by the Indigenous women and children in the Amazon who are being threatened with violence into becoming slaves or prostitutes for criminal groups involved in illegal mining. People who disobey or clash with gang leaders are forcefully amputated, gang-raped, or murdered and thrown into mass graves. The main groups that perpetrate this violence are the Venezuelan military, pranes, and guerrilla gangs. These groups aim to control the Arco Minero del Orinoco (AMO), a region replete with precious resources such as coltan, diamonds, and gold.
